A Georgian Mahogany and Parcel Gilt Fretwork Wall mirror 1820

A Georgian Mahogany and Parcel Gilt Fretwork wall mirror 1820
£195.00
A Georgian Mahogany and Parcel Gilt Fretwork Wall mirror, the pediment adorned with a typical ‘ho-ho’ bird (sometimes referred to as a Phoenix) in flight. 1820. H69cm x W40cm Presented in wonderfully original country house condition. This kind of mirror was very popular, and there are numerous examples. This one is a very original example, A peek at the back shows original backing and nails, the hand carving is plain to see and the mirror plate is in good condition with no crazing, cracks or silvering losses. I suspect this has been hung in a Yorkshire House undisturbed for a very long time.
Also, and while I can’t guarantee this, I always feel that you actually look better in Georgian glass! Try it! and tell me if I’m wrong 🙂
